Little Sprouts Christian Preschool seeks to grow its “Guest Educator” list. We are currently looking for individuals with Responsible Adult (RA), Early Childhood Educational Assistant (ECEA), and/or Early Childhood Educator (ECE) certifications. We also ask that all applicants have their first aid certification and a clear CRC and be willing to provide references.  Individuals on this list must be available on short notice.   Please see below for a brief job description of an ECEA:  

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Communication:
      • Communicating with the Program Director any necessary information about children and/or their families.
      • Recording all information that staff need to know in the communications binder.
        • Including any and/or all incidents that must be communicated to families.  
      • Check the communication binder at the start of the shift. 
  • Being Present: 
    • Assisting children with tasks
    • Sitting with children at circle time
    • Assist in classroom management and dealing with behaviours
  • Assisting with toileting, eating, and resting times. 
  • Assist in the daily operation of the preschool, which includes: 
      • Assist in performing a safety check
        • Water and Playground
      • Assist with daily attendance
      • Assisting in ensuring the property is well-maintained.
      • Assist with classroom cleaning
      • Collaborate with the Program Director and other educators
  • Adhering to Licensing policies 
    • Positive Child Guidance 
    • Ensure their certifications are up to date
    • Pursue professional development opportunities
    • Assist with monthly Fire drills and quarterly Earthquake drills

Requirements:

  •  Early Childhood Education Assistant Certification with some previous experience (1 year or more) 
  • A Clear Ministry of Justice Criminal Record Check
  • First Aid Certification with CPR-C and AED
  • Love for Jesus and attending a church
  • Love for children and a passion for teaching
  • Flexibility in working with children, other educators, and the Program Director
  • Teachability and ability to learn from co-workers
