June Bible Study

(Love) It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

1 Corinthians 13:7

For June, our Virtue is Fortitude and in particular, Perseverance.

This is a great way to finish our race for Grade 1. Make your mindset, ‘To Never Give Up!’ and make your school year end well!

Activities to Do:

  • Memorize your bible verse and say it on Seesaw or at school to Mrs. Bouchard or Mrs. Okuma ·      Write your verse out and decorate it. Put it up in your room to help with your memory.
  • Try some activities below.

  • Watch your favourite sports team at practice, test your focus on a balance beam or go on a unique hike. Review these and lots more ideas that make studying perseverance a blast!

Here are more activities you can try throughout the week. Perseverance is always needed and always beneficial. Try the one below and you get a nice garden too!

Weed the garden together. Discussion point: Weeds come up again and again, just as some sins do. We need to persevere in prayer for victory over temptation. Go outside and try to dig up all the dandelions (or other weeds) in your yard, or in a nearby green belt. While you are working, talk about how persistent the weeds are in coming back. Draw a parallel with sins that are “persistent” and seem to keep coming up again and again. Explain to your children that they need to keep coming back again and again to God, persevering in prayer, asking Him to help them overcome the temptation to ________(name a particular sin). Have your children pray “in Jesus’ name” and assure them that Jesus has already won the victory over any sin Satan might send their way to tempt them.

Bible Study

  • John 10: 1-21 ‘He is the Good Shepherd’ You can read this in your bible at home or listen to Mrs. Bouchard read it on Seesaw. In the classroom bible ‘A Child’s First Bible,’ it is on page p.208-209.
  • Read the story of 'The Lost Sheep' on Seesaw. You can colour the picture attached.
  • Have you ever lost anything? Think about how you might feel if they lost something really important to you. On the lined paper, write about a time when you lost something and describe how it felt. Draw a picture to compliment your writing. The template is found on the attachments below and Seesaw.

May 19-22

Bible Study

  • I have a ‘Jelly Bean’ Prayer for you to colour and read. It is found below in the documents.
  • One of my favourite stories is in Luke 5 when some friends wanted to help their friend who couldn’t walk, and he had to be moved around on a stretcher. Read it in on Seesaw from our classroom bible or in your own bible. (Luke 5:17-26.) What part of the story did you like?

For May our virtue is Responsibility (Diligence)

Our school memory verse for this month is: Colossians 3:23,24
Work at everything you do with all your heart.
Work as if you were working for the Lord, not for human masters.

I invite all to read this daily, memorize and record or videotape saying the verse on Seesaw.

Here is a song to help you! song for Col 3:23-24

What is a fun way to be responsible this month? Send me a message on Seesaw on how you are doing this. Hint: are you helping with chores or doing your school work?

Here are some helpful links and stories to look at.

https://www.kidsofintegrity.com/lessons/responsibility
Meet Biblical characters who always did a great job, make up some laughable excuses for avoiding work, and fill your bathtub with pretend turtles to learn about protecting wildlife!

https://www.kidsofintegrity.com/lessons/responsibility/kick-craft

Plan to do this kick-off craft early in your lesson on responsibility. You will work together to make diamond-shaped “men at work” traffic signs.
