Last week, the grade 10-12 students of Gaglardi Academy set aside their academic studies to spend some time building community amongst themselves and serving the Comox Valley community. On Thursday, students and teachers spent the day at Selah Campsite, participating in a number of fun team-building activities, and getting to know each other as they played games and hung out around the fire. Some former students joined the group to share their positive experiences of serving our local community. On Friday, students worked in small groups to serve a number of organizations around the Comox Valley: picking up garbage on local beaches, splitting and stacking wood at Selah Campsite, preparing and serving lunch at the Sonshine Lunch Club at St. George's Church, weeding flower beds and planting bulbs at Comox Community Baptist Church, and winterizing the vegetable garden at our school. Students were energized and excited about how they were able to positively contribute to the needs of our community, and are looking forward to doing this on a regular basis this year!
