Dear Families:
Gaglardi Academy will begin with the same COVID-19 protocols as we ended the school year in June. Below are the key protocols for the 2022/23 school year if you need a refresher. The school's safety plan will be updated on the website by September 15th.
1. Good hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette are essential to minimize the spread of disease.
2. Wearing masks is a personal choice for staff and students while in the school building or out on the property.
3. Every family and staff member must assess their health before arriving at school. Please do not come to school if you are sick. Families and staff can attend school if their symptoms are consistent with previously diagnosed health conditions or if symptoms have resolved without needing medication. The school will call parents to collect their children if they become sick during the school day.
4. The facility will be disinfected every 24 hours, including frequently touched surfaces.
5. Merv 13 filters continue to be in place per BCCDC recommendations. The school is applying for a government grant to improve ventilation in the portables.
6. Refrain from sharing personal items like food, drinks, oral instruments or objects that touch the mouth.
7. Staff and students are encouraged to respect others' personal space. Therefore, school entrance & exits will be the same as last year.
Kindergarten - at their door
Grade One - East Door
Grade 2 and 3 - Undercovered Area
Grade 4 and 5 - Main Door
Grade 6 and 7 - walk to Portables
Grades 8-12 - Front Door
8. Spacing in classrooms and other learning environments will suit student needs and preferred educational approaches.
9. Visitors, parents, and students who are late for school will come through the main door and report to the office.
I look forward to seeing you all in the halls, classrooms and playground.
Warmest Regards, Bernadette Pitcher
